Auto glass in Sanford, NC, from Impex Auto Glass, means a technician coming to the car rather than the car going to a shop. Impex’s shops are in Greensboro and Charlotte, and Sanford and the towns around it are served by mobile service. This page lists the places the service covers and the roads that join them, with a page for each group of towns.

Sanford itself
Sanford is the seat of Lee County and had 30,261 people at the 2020 census. It took its present shape in 1947, when Sanford and Jonesboro merged, and Jonesboro Heights still has its own stretch of Main Street, which is NC 78. The town grew as a railroad and industrial center and is known as one of the nation’s largest producers of brick and pottery products. Downtown runs along Steele Street, and the geographic center of North Carolina lies northwest of the city, just over the line in Chatham County.
For a glass company, the important thing about Sanford is its roads. US 1, partly known as Jefferson Davis Highway, with Hawkins Avenue as US 1 Business; US 421, which is Horner Boulevard through town; US 15 and US 501, which run together north and south; and NC 42, NC 78 and NC 87 across the county. That is a great deal of through traffic and heavy trucking for a city of its size, and a great many stone chips. Every service Impex offers is available anywhere in town: windshield replacement in Sanford, NC, windshield repair in Sanford, NC and auto glass repair in Sanford, NC for side and back glass.

The towns, road by road
| Town | County | From Sanford | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Broadway | Lee (part in Harnett) | 8 miles east, off US 421 | Broadway, NC |
| Lillington | Harnett (county seat) | 22 miles by US 421 | Lillington |
| Pittsboro | Chatham (county seat) | 17 miles north by US 15/501 | Pittsboro and Siler City |
| Siler City | Chatham | By US 421 northwest | Pittsboro and Siler City |
| Southern Pines | Moore | 26 miles southwest by US 1 | Southern Pines and Carthage |
| Carthage | Moore (county seat) | 18 miles southwest by US 15/501 | Southern Pines and Carthage |
East on US 421: Broadway and Lillington
US 421 leaves Sanford eastward, passes just south of Broadway and runs on to Lillington, the Harnett County seat on the Cape Fear River, where it joins US 401. As on any highway, stones thrown up by the traffic ahead are where most windshield chips start.
North on US 15/501, and US 421 northwest: Pittsboro and Siler City
US 15/501 runs north 17 miles to Pittsboro, the Chatham County seat, where it circles the historic courthouse. Siler City, in western Chatham County, sits where US 64 crosses US 421; US 421 bypasses the town on its way between Sanford and Greensboro, the city where Impex has one of its two shops.
Southwest on US 1 and US 15/501: Southern Pines and Carthage
US 1 runs 26 miles southwest to Southern Pines, where it becomes Sandhills Boulevard. US 15/501 runs 18 miles southwest to Carthage, the Moore County seat, and NC 22 links Carthage and Southern Pines.

Beyond these towns
Impex serves all of North Carolina with mobile service, so the list above is where Sanford’s service goes most often, not a fence. If you live in a smaller community between these towns, or along NC 42 or NC 87 out in the county, call: the technician comes to the car wherever it is parked. If you would rather bring the car in, the Greensboro and Charlotte shops take vehicles too.
What the mobile visit needs, wherever you are
- A dry, fairly level spot with room to open both front doors.
- Cover, such as a garage or carport, if it is raining.
- About two hours for a windshield, 30 to 60 minutes for a side window, one to two hours for back glass.
- The VIN, so the right glass is ordered first time.
The details of the visit are on mobile windshield replacement in Sanford, and the camera calibration that follows a new windshield on most newer cars is on ADAS calibration.
